- Complete your ED Card before you fly. Every visitor must submit Aruba’s digital entry form, and it can only be submitted within 7 days of your arrival date. Most air visitors aged 8 and over also pay a US$20 Sustainability Fee online. Use only the official government portal (edcardaruba.aw), because other sites that charge more are unofficial. Save the QR code you receive by email offline, since airlines check it at departure and border control scans it on arrival. Fees and rules can change, so check the official Visit Aruba site before you travel.
- Pick your beach. Eagle Beach and Palm Beach are the main resort beaches, and Baby Beach in the south is calm and shallow. Aruba sits south of the main Atlantic hurricane belt, but still check the forecast before you book.
- Prepare for Arikok National Park. Many interior roads are rough, so most visitors go by 4x4 or on a guided tour, for example to the Natural Pool. Signal can drop in the park’s deeper valleys, so download offline maps first.
- Choose how you’ll get around. Arubus runs from Oranjestad to the hotel areas, and rental cars suit trips around the island. Taxis use set rates, so ask the fare before you ride.
- Pay in US dollars or by card. US dollars are widely accepted alongside the Aruban florin, and cards are common. English, Dutch, Spanish and Papiamento are all spoken.
- Message tour operators on WhatsApp. Boat charters, snorkelling trips and restaurants often use WhatsApp, so keep your data on to confirm times and meeting points.
